Why is my cat is obsessed with the bath tub
My cat has recently developed an obsession with my bath tub. He is in my
tub every day, and if l lock him out of the bathroom he sits at the door
and whines. He gets alot of attention and l play with him for hours every
day, so l do not think it is boredom. He likes to drink the faucet water,
but when its not on he just sits in the bath tub for as long as l let him.
Is there something wrong with him, or is he just weird?
The tub is cold. Cats like to lay on cold floors or surfaces.
He isn't weird, just being a cat!!! :)
My cats love the tub. I finally put their water dish under the
faucet and refill it as needed. Just move the dish out when you are ready
to shower. They no longer make a mess on the floor around their water
dish. Any excess runs down the drain. And yes they love to sleep in the
tub and the wash basin too. It works for me. After all the cats run the
house. I am just a needed accessory.
God what kind of vet is Ras, NO vet would first of all be on
unless it is a few moments per day & no vet would have such stupid advice
as I have seen. She is a 12 year old pretending to be a vet to get points
how lame.
It is natural for cats. Mine are in the empty tub all the time. It is
cool there. Let him be all of mine go in the tub for one reason or another & they have a self waterer chilled so it isn't water. Mine drink from the faucet as well, it is a habit. No more no less. Mine will sit on the tub when I am on the pot just to be where I am. the they rearrange the litter. NO worries.
cats are protectors and he knows that you are in there
everyday, no this isn't wierd. It would not surprize me if he got into the
bath whilst you were in there if you let him lol.
My cat is just like that, but sits on the rugs in the hallway.
All that means is that he/she is comfortable there. Just like we are in
chairs and beds. {:-)}
LOL, both of mine are, too. I think it is common. My newest
kitty gets upset when I am in the tub and there is water in it, and she
can not get in. She will lean over and meow at me.
My other cat loves to play in the tub without water. He will take toys in
and bat them around in there. I think he likes the smooth surface, and
also the walls give him a sense of a hideout.
My cat likes the tub so much he scratches it. Even took off a
bit of the paint. He has learned even how to open the bathroom and shower
door with his paw. Oh well.
Probably because it is cool (temp wise not fad wise).
I also have a cat who likes to play with her toys in the bathtub. She also
likes to play ''catch the bug''...I run my finger on the inside of the
shower door and she is on the outside of the shower door 'trying to catch
the bug'. It is hilarious!
My cat also likes the bathtub but he wants fresh water from the
spout. Turn on lighlty see if he drinks if so this could be him telling u
he does not want to drink from bowl. Also the tub is a cool place for
nap.
I have a couple of those too !
Water dripping from the tap is cold and fresh ( and has a less chemical
taste)
the bathtub is cool on his feet and skin ( same reason why they sometimes
sprawl across tiled floors)
running water is fascinating
the drain has a distinctive odour - i've seen cats peeing in it and I suppose people look strange without clothes !
Your bathtub probably have water dripping from the tap. Cats
loves to play with water at times.
cats like very cold water to drink - its not just because they
like it, its an instinctive & physical thing. the water from the cool
faucet is probably colder than what is in his bowl which is probably why
he likes it.
you can get him a deep ceramic bowl that will keep water cooler for him,
or add some ice cubes, put it on a cooler tiled floor & keep it out of the
sun - this might help. Other than that, the tub probably just feels nice on his tummy - if you dont want him in there, shut the door & dont ever let him in - he will forget about it eventually. .
Mine are the same way. In fact, I've had a couple fall in when
I was in there! :-o
My cats do the exact same thing. But be careful-make sure your
litter box is clean or they might have a purposeful accident.
sounds a little odd. but really, who is he hurting? why not
just let him sit in there if it is what he likes to do? no different than
you having a favorite chair or side of the bed.
Nah - normal cat behavior - mine does it too. He loves the
shower water and the faucet and loves to sit on the edge of the bathtub.
Just let him - he won't hurt anything.
My former cat and my friend is cat and my MIL is cat all do it too. Oh
and no reported poop accidents among all these cats, so I don't think that
happens often. Eeeek - I'd have a cow if that happened!
